About the Campaign
The Child Advocacy Fund (CAF) supports advocacy activities designed to move forward our legislative agendas at the state and national level. These advocacy activities represent and promote the needs of the regional Head Start community in political arenas. Collectively, we can gain and exercise power to affect legislation, official policies, and governmental programs impacting Head Start children, families, staff, and communities.
Fundraising is fundamental to our work. Implementing an effective advocacy program at the state and national level requires significant financial resources for public campaigns, civic education, informational materials, outreach and other exercises. Therefore, it is critical that each program actively participates in their state campaign.
Campaign Goal and Distribution Plan
Our campaign goal is to raise $165,625 which represents one dollar for every funded enrollment slot in Region IV. The distribution formula provides the state and regional associations with the financial resources to advance their advocacy efforts. State associations will retain 50% of campaign funds to support their state-based advocacy program. In turn, state associations will send the remaining 50% to RIVHSA to support our national advocacy activities. All CAF proceeds are used by RIVHSA to conduct legislative activities. No portion of the proceeds are used for RIVHSA's operating expenses.
Listed below are the goals for each state based upon its total funded enrollment:
